30.09.2021 - 'MEGA65' ready for pre-order
The 21st century realization of the Commodore 65 heritage: a complete 8-bit computer running more than 40x faster than a C64 while being increasingly compatible. Mechanical keyboard, digital video output, dual SDHC card support, Ethernet, extended memory and other features increase the fun without spoiling the 8-bit feel. Hardware designs and software are open-source. The first 400 units have been sold. Reservations/pre-orders for the next batch (1000 units, delivery 2022) can still be made. Each purchaser will receive an order confirmation after placing the order.

29.09.2021 - Armsid - Finally, a good C64 SID replacement! - new video from 'Adrian's Digital Basement'
The SID chip on the C64 is a pretty great synthesizer chip. Unfortunately, due to the was MOS made the chips, they fail quite frequently. In the past, Adrian had tried the SwinSID replacement SID, but it leaves a lot to be desired about how closely it replicates the SID. Bring on the ARMSID - which seems to be produce a sound much closer to the real thing.

He'd love to know if this is more common than he think it is, but searching on the internet didn't immediately reveal other people having this keyboard.

25.09.2021 - C64 port of 'Galaga' released and free for download
As announced in July this year, this port of the old arcade classic is now finally released by Arlasoft. One obstacle of a decent Galaga port is the C64's aspect ratio, with the screen just 200 pixels tall compared to the Arcade's 288. However, the highly-rated NES conversion managed to squeeze it into 224 pixels, so all that was needed to do was open up the top and bottom borders for sprites and use 12 or more pixels in each to make up the difference. And there is more effort, that was put into the game...
