17.04.2026 - Video: Sonic on the Amiga? - Palette Panic #2! (Dev Log Apr '26)In this video RetroRic is helping reassembler68k with graphics for his Amiga Sonic project, where the goal for this build is to fit the background layer into a single 16-colour palette on the Amiga 1200. They take the original Green Hill Zone background from Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive, analyse the colours it uses across the Mega Drive palettes, and then crunch those 20 background colours down to 16 while keeping the scene looking right. Along the way RetroRic explains how the Mega Drive palette works, which colours are locked, how to decide what can be removed, and how to fix the tiles after the palette changes so the background still looks correct.
