17.11.2024 - C64 Uridium = NES The Last Starfighter? - video by '8-Bit Show And Tell'
The Last Starfighter (1984) is a 1980s movies. The movie combines video games, space battles, weird aliens and androids, and Cray supercomputer-rendered CGI, when that was a new and exciting thing. Atari promised a Last Starfighter video game, but it was never released, leaving us Atari and Commodore gamers left out. Mindscape finally released an official The Last Starfighter game in 1990, but it was for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It looked strangely familiar to C64 gamers: it was nearly identical to Andrew Braybrook's Uridium, but with the name and sprites changed! In this video, David Youd lends his analytical skills to help me definitively answer a nagging question about TLS on NES: does it share level data and/or code with the original Commodore 64 game?
