'Murderlize all Humans!' for VIC20 (+16k) is a game leaned on Berserk, the well known arcade game from 1980 by Stern Electronics. It was one of the first arcade games to feature synthesized speech. This was at a time when memory costs were at a premium. 'Murdelize all humans' uses Berserk! as inspiration but does not attempt to copy it.

This game is a story-based text adventure made with Ozmoo, where you can explore the town and discover mysterious places. Collect multiple items and interact with other citizens. There's just one hook... they no longer seem to remember you. Supported Systems: C64, C128, Plus/4, C16,VIC-20, PET, MEGA65, Amiga and several other non-Commodore 8-Bit systems.

Is there a tiny type-in program listing hiding inside a Thorn EMI EMITAPE Computer Cassette? Robin tracked a brand new, unopened C20 tape down, thanks to a tip from viewer EdwardianTeaChest, and opened the early 1982-vintage cassette. There are in fact two listings, one for the Commodore VIC-20, and another for the Sinclair ZX81. Join Robin as we type these programs in on vintage hardware, and figure out what they do.

They have restocked their supply of the PS/2 mouse adapter Micromys V5. This handy adapter allows you to use a more modern mouse device to emulate a 1351 mouse. As an added bonus, the Micromys V5 is also compatible with the Amiga, VIC-20, 8 bit Atari and Atari ST machines.

Let's take a look at some of my collection of vinyl records and CDs that are somehow inspired by or connected to Commodore computers. One Intelligent Dance Music album is VIC-20 themed and even includes a type-in program that we try! Another is named after the Commodore PET, or my favourite Commodore magazine. Another has a Commodore 64 program hidden on it that promises the greatest Telespeil ever on the next album! Another is a synth record about Kayak Championships published by Commodore that borrows from Phil Collins in a very strange way. Or another song is about using your Commodore 64 for free long distance calls and getting busted by the Feds. Much variety, but all of it is somehow Commodore-connected.

23.12.2022 - Long lost C64 title 'Lordsfire' preserved and available for download
Lordsfire is a title by Jeremy Walker, who had previously produced Envahi on the VIC-20 for Virgin Games in 1983 and then ported to C64. In the game, you were to control a young Lord of the castle-in-the-sky, where you have inherited a mighty winged steed and a powerful fire-staff, but more importantly the hand of a beautiful princess in marriage. Virgin Games sadly reject the game. Rotting away on a disk for 38 years, Jeremy managed to find a copy of his game and kindly sent it over to Games That Weren't 64 (GTW64) to fully preserve after Simon Birrell put them in touch. So now for the first time in almost 40 years, you can play this multi-part game from 1984 that never was

You are a hungry snake. Eat all the food, which includes cherries, grapes, blueberries and bugs, to grow longer. Some food leaves a nasty yellow mushroom. Don't eat mushrooms! Get the right combination of food and you will be rewarded with a Green Jelly bonus, the most excellent of all the Jellies. You can get the game as digital download for free. However, you can also purchase the game on tape, to load into a real VIC-20, from The Future Was 8Bit for little money.

11.12.2022 - 'Cross Verbix V1.0' - new game for C64, Plus/4 and VIC-20 released
Cross Verbix is a word game somehow similar to Scrabble and to a much lesser extent similar to Tetris: you must construct correct English words by rotating columns of letters or by rotating the bottom row before the letters reach the top level. You can get extra points if you complete the level earlier by lowering the stack of letters below the second row. The game is free for download. The link above is for the C64 version, the Plus/4 binary can be obtained here, and the VIC-20 here.

The game is called Superchase Remix because it is remixed from three different versions of the same game that got published in Compute! magazines and books in the early '80s (the original Vic-20 version was published on October 1982, so exactly 40 years ago).

'Castle Attack' is a little arcade game in the style of 'Orc Attack', created by Rainer Kappler (Masterware Entertainment), which you can download for free. After a long battle, your castle is about to be conquered. Defend your castle by throwing stones at the attacking knights, who want to use ladders to reach the battlements of it.
