14.03.2026 - Plus/4 game 'Randoom' released - free for download
In 'Randoom', a port of a C64 game with the same name from 2021, you play through 31 stages by catching the squares in the correct order. Sounds simple, but the fun of the game is the frantic gameplay due to the chaotic nature of the squares' movement. The game is very polished and has all the bells and whistles one could ask for.

14.03.2026 - C64 game 'Bubble Buddies' released
'Bubble Buddies' is a reimagination of Bubble Bobble, arguably on of the best C64 games ever. With 100 brand new levels designed for maximum happiness, Bubble Buddies emphasizes unique level design with a wider range of gameplay and a slightly easier playthrough with a smooth difficulty curve. All graphics have been polished to look their absolute best within the narrow constraints of the c64. Most of the sprites are made by the talented Davide Bottino for the 2025 release of Bubble Bobble C64 Remastered. This is not a rewrite, but a hack of the original game. Only the content has been changed, along with minor bug fixes. You can get the game as digital download for little money (name your own price) to support the developer.

'Homo Sapiens' is an adventure game where you are the weakest living thing on your wild planet, and you must find a way to survive and rule over all the other species. This is an enhanced and English translated version of the Italian adventure Antropos: Homo Sapiens by Bonaventura Di Bello. Released as part of The BDB Project. 'Red Dwarf: Fiji Or Bust' is a new adventure game, dedicated to Rob Grant, who recently passed away and who was starring on the British sci-fi comedy show 'Red Dwarf'. On the show, he played "Dave", whose dream was go retire on Fiji. The game explores this goal: you must find fuel for your starship, convince your crew to join, and successfully launch to Fiji!

12.03.2026 - Video: Escape From PETSCII Planet - Level Designer Demo
This video shows a level creator tool to design custom levels for the first-person shooter game Escape From PETSCII Planet for the Commodore 64. Create your own mazes, add some keys, gold, weapons, ammo, and place the enemies wherever you want them. Send the level to your friends to play, or send it to me for inclusion in a future Campaign release.

12.03.2026 - Video: Sonic on the Amiga? - Palette Panic! #1 (Dev Log Mar '26)
In this video RetroRic is helping ‪reassembler68k‬ with graphics for his Amiga Sonic project, where the goal for this build is to fit the background layer into a single 16-colour palette on the Amiga 1200. We take the original Green Hill Zone background from Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive, analyse the colours it uses across the Mega Drive palettes, and then crunch those 20 background colours down to 16 while keeping the scene looking right. Along the way RetroRic explains how the Mega Drive palette works, which colours are locked, how to decide what can be removed, and how to fix the tiles after the palette changes so the background still looks correct.

'Tony Do It!' is a small yet highly enjoyable puzzle game inspired by the classic Sokoban. Your objective is simple: place all the crates onto the spots marked with crosses. However, the mechanics offer an interesting twist - you can not only push the crates but also pull them by pressing the Fire button, adding new tactical possibilities. The levels feature additional challenges. Scorpions and wandering natives roam the chambers. They won’t kill you, but direct contact will drain your remaining time more quickly, forcing you to think and act fast. 'Steel Horizon' is a high-performance shoot 'em up developed as the flagship project for the upcoming book: "Modern Code, Classic Steel: Engineering Professional Action Games for the C64". Every line of code (written entirely in C using the Oscar64 compiler) every hardware trick, and every optimization is explained in detail in the announced book.

09.03.2026 - New footage of WIP C64 game 'Parallaxian' (Mar. 2026)
Parallaxian by John Woods is a vertical shooter in development, that will be the first ever combining a vertical parallax effect within a horizontally scrolling parallaxed landscape. There was no news about the development for quite a while, but now the developer has uploaded a new video with the note that the game nears completion and play testers are now starting to send feedback. The video shows the latest WIP build of the technical testbed, this time showcasing planet Alpinia for a change of scenery from all that desert landscaping of previous previews.

'Where is it' is a simple puzzle game exploring the C64’s architecture, limitations, and possibilities. You have to find the correct 3x3 pattern in the Game Area. Your searching skills are being tested to the max. The game is classified by it's developer as prototype, which still uses placeholder graphics and which development is ongoing, but it already includes two game modes, a bonus stage, and a set of levels to explore.

New footage of the soon-to-be-released first-person shooter game for the Commodore 64 - Escape From PETSCII Castle - an adaptation of a PET release of the same game, which itself was inspired by Wolfenstein 3D. This time showing a full playthrough of Level 4. Enemy robots and sentries. Pick up ammo, health, weapons and gold. Multiple difficulty levels.
