03.10.2026 - C64 game 'Doom64' released - free for download
'Doom64' is a demake of the classic FPS to the C64 and the middle game of the id trilogy. It runs on stock machine, though the engine benefits of higher CPU speeds that are possible on e.g. the C64U. The Maps are hand edited on a grid, adjusting light levels and heights using an instant preview window. Weapons are all sprite based, taking the shareware sprites and scaling, tweaking, and palettizing them. Sounds are taken from the original PC speaker effects and decimating them. 'Das Bier für den Zwergenkönig' (The Beer for the Dwarf King) is a text/graphic adventure in German and English language. It plays in the world of the Gold Quest Games, which is a multi-part fantasy C64 game series. Find the recipe clues, ingredients and tools, put the brewery to work and deliver the finished royal cask to Sledgie. The game contains 25 locations and combines a text parser with illustrated rooms, conversations, small quests and a score system. The game language can be switched on the fly.
