24.12.2025 - Fixing Christmas Carols' Raster Code on Commodore 64 - video by '8-Bit Show And Tell'
In 1984, John Henry Software released "Christmas Carols", which is 18 Commodore 64 SID renditions of Christmas songs, complete with themed bitmap graphics, and karaoke-style onscreen lyrics. Some of the graphics are also animated, and the package even included a song-booklet, to encourage singing along with your family, and dog. While the Commodore 64 is capable of displaying multiple graphic modes at once, such as bitmap graphics and text mode, it was often a challenge to work out precisely how to do this "raster split" and many C64 programs from the 1980s do this in a less than optimal way, resulting in a flickery or glitchy seam between the two graphics modes. We'll try to improve this with some tighter 6510 machine code that results in a rock solid display.

24.12.2025 - C64 game 'Birdle' released - free for download
Introducing Birdle the dull bird (real name actually Dullbert) with a new Wordle style game by Megastyle. This time though, you guessed it.... all words are based on birds or bird related. Play Birdle pretty much like how you play Wordle, but you are not limited to only typing valid words. You can type in any old crap.

24.12.2025 - Sabre Wulf Remastered Preview (v0.5) for C64 released for download
Sabre Wulf is an action-adventure game released by British video game developer Ultimate Play the Game for the ZX Spectrum home computer in 1984 and there was also a port for C64. This remastering project of it was started after graphic artist JonEgg redrew all the tiles for the C64 version of the game Sabre Wulf. Though there are many bugs left, Version 0.5 offers quite some updates since the V0.1 preview: - critters - so you can now actually die, - lives and score HUD, - high scores, - lots of optimizations and saved memory, - fixed the screen render (left/right side of screen), - new version of Sparkle for faster loading, - flowers (more to do here but they’re mostly done), - power up’s from the flowers (again, more to do), - lots more under the hood

23.12.2025 - 'Amiga Sonic' - Tech Demo released
RetroRic had the idea of trying to bring Sonic to the Amiga, but with news of Reassembler's new Sonic project, he realized that there wasn't much point in keeping this project alive. He couldn't quite let it die though and really wanted to see what was possible with the Scorpion Engine, so he decided just to make a tech demo out of curiosity. Then the project ballooned to an almost complete level 1 of Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog, in both 32 colour and 16 colour versions, which you can get the game as digital download for little money (name your own price) to support the developer. For Any Amiga with 2 MB chipram.
