Cascade Amiga Packdisks
"Packdisks" are collections of different stuff, mostly intros and demos, sampled together on an Amiga disk and equipped with a simple loader menu. Because of their easy usage (no need to run CLI/Workbench) these packages have been quite famous on Amiga back then and likely spreaded and collected. The Packdisks here are released under the flag of Cascade, though some of them might contain a collection of stuff, that is not inevitably made by Cascade members.Approved Amiga emulator(s) for Windows:
Denise V2.6
WinUAE 6.0.2
This Packdisk contains solely Cascade demos/intros, which can be also downloaded separately here. The reason for making such a thing in 1998: Back then most Amiga emulators where not able to load Amiga binaries with simple drag'n'drop. At least I was asked by some old Cascade members, because they had problems in loading their old stuff with an emulator. So I linked this stuff within an .adf and equipped it with a simple keymap menu and upped them on the Cascade Homepage. However, these disks found their way to other Amiga scene resources as legal Cascade releases. Unnecessary to mention, web and e-mail address listed in this release is obsolete :-)

24.12.2025 - Fixing Christmas Carols' Raster Code on Commodore 64 - video by '8-Bit Show And Tell'In 1984, John Henry Software released "Christmas Carols", which is 18 Commodore 64 SID renditions of Christmas songs, complete with themed bitmap graphics, and karaoke-style onscreen lyrics. Some of the graphics are also animated, and the package even included a song-booklet, to encourage singing along with your family, and dog. While the Commodore 64 is capable of displaying multiple graphic modes at once, such as bitmap graphics and text mode, it was often a challenge to work out precisely how to do this "raster split" and many C64 programs from the 1980s do this in a less than optimal way, resulting in a flickery or glitchy seam between the two graphics modes. We'll try to improve this with some tighter 6510 machine code that results in a rock solid display.
