07.09.2020 - New C64 game 'Aliens NeoPlasma' WIP
The development of Aliens Neoplasma C64 is currently be finished. The game will require a C64 accelerator (Ultimate64, Turbo Chameleon 64, SuperCPU) as it makes extensive use of the hires bitmap mode. Only the hero is made of hardware sprites, all the enemies are bitmap BOBs (blitted objects=software sprites). Objects are also horizontally flipped in real time. It was impossible for me to make it using only hardware sprites, as they were too many sprites on a single row sometimes (the aliens are very big ya know). It will be a cartridge release.

For a while now there has been an intermittent problem with receiving ethernet frames: The occasional byte of a received packet is corrupted. The CRC of the received packets is checked fine, so I am assuming it is read/write contention on the receive buffer dual-port memories: Basically if you try to read from a dual-port memory when it is being written to, you can end up reading rubbish. Using a Sega Megadrive (Genesis) controller on a Commodore 64 puts a lot of strain on the CIA chip and can cause it to fail. So how can you use a Sega Megadrive Joypad on a C64? Join Mark as he builds a simple adapter that will safely convert your Sega joypad's output into voltage levels that the C64's internals can handle without a problem. It also works with Amiga machines and has some great features like button switching and mapping UP to a button.

'Freaky Fish' was originally our entry for the 2018 Reset64 4k Craptastic competition. The initial concept was a cross between Bubble Bobble and Kaboom set underwater. For the deluxe version of the game the engine was completely rewritten, new graphics, bonus levels, original music and more were added! 'Freaky Fish' can be purchased for bargain as digital version (.d64).

Axis/Cascade is no more. We are all still shaken by the unexpected death of our friend and group mate Patrick aka Axis/Cascade. We wanted to express our sorrow, so I coded a little intro, which you can find in the C64 demo section of this page. The following text is a rough excerpt taken from the scroller:
Dear Patrick, may this be the condolence from the the group that was co-founded by you long time ago. We want to give you our last salute. I (Zeldin) know how much you were breathing the spirit of the scene. That's why I thought a goodbye demo would have made you happy. You and me exchanged lots of mails about how much we both enjoyed the good ol' days and of course: how much we miss them... It was this tie that emotionally connected us for over 15 years. Thanks for all your help in supporting the group and your indefatigable endeavour in spreading our name. Your tattoos were legendary! Thanks for your work on fb and youtube. Your channels were appreciated by a lot of people. Thanks for being such a good chap. You'll be sorely missed!!!
