24.12.2022 - 'Dizzy Three and a Half' for Plus/4 released
'Dizzy Three and a Half' (aka Dizzy 3 + a Half, Dizzy 3.5, Dizzy III.V) was a minigame teaser for Magicland Dizzy, originally released for the Spectrum on the covertape of Crash magazine in January 1991. Now it got ported to Plus/4 and is free for download.

Commodore Computers released the VIC-20 in 1981, but in 1980 they released it exclusively in Japan with Japanese characters/text. Let's have a look inside and see how it is typing in Japanese and other VIC-20 models and trivia.

24.12.2022 - 'PET Space Invaders 2' for Commodore PET released and free for download
Taito released the original Space Invaders arcade game in 1978, and as a high school student Satoshi Matsuoka created a masterpiece replica of Space Invaders for the Commodore PET in 1980. Taito updated the original arcade game in 1979 with the release of Space Invaders Part II. The updated game featured more aliens, spawning aliens and different UFOs. 'PET Space Invaders 2' is an updated version of the original PET game that more closely matches the gameplay of that 1979 Taito version.

'Snake VS Bomb' is a hi score attack challenge made for the 'Snake Fun Competition' at csdb, and features 8 levels of madcap mayhem. You are a snake, which has to travel through a very long tunnel. During your travels you will encounter fruit and bombs, which are placed at random inside the tunnel. The snake can eat fruit if the fruit reaches its head for points. However, the bombs must be avoided...

'Mike Quarter (Present Sorter)' by Arlasoft is so to say the Christmas version of the old arcade 'Tapper':You are Mike Quarter, working at the North Pole on a zero hour contract. You must direct the presents to the right sleight. Can you make it to December 25th and save Christmas? You can get the game as digital download for a bargain (name your own price).

Time has come round quickly once more, with our yearly Christmas update - and as always, the GTW crew has something for you in the shape of a previously unseen and unreleased C64 game Lordsfire (see news below), some recovered C128 titles and important new information on some key GTW entries like Adam Caveman, Billy Boulder and Mumbles - Super Spy, plus 9 brand new entries added and 33 other entries also updated.

23.12.2022 - Amiga game creator 'Redpill' V0.9.15 released
List of changes in 0.9.15: -Sprite background can now have up to 8 different levels of parallax. - New FX layer for games with less than 256 (32 in ECS) colors. - Example project ex_fx showing the new features. Graphics from Ansimuz and Jetrel. Music by Fireboy. - Tile selected in tiles shortcuts is not highlighted anymore. - Project load shortcuts now leave in first position the latest loaded project. - Action trigger to Instantiate 4 objects in the 4 directions. - Instantiate trigger that allows to instantiate in an exact position. Old Intantiate trigger has been renamed to Instantiate RND. - Change solidity triggers added to change all types or just one tile. - and much more...

23.12.2022 - Long lost C64 title 'Lordsfire' preserved and available for download
Lordsfire is a title by Jeremy Walker, who had previously produced Envahi on the VIC-20 for Virgin Games in 1983 and then ported to C64. In the game, you were to control a young Lord of the castle-in-the-sky, where you have inherited a mighty winged steed and a powerful fire-staff, but more importantly the hand of a beautiful princess in marriage. Virgin Games sadly reject the game. Rotting away on a disk for 38 years, Jeremy managed to find a copy of his game and kindly sent it over to Games That Weren't 64 (GTW64) to fully preserve after Simon Birrell put them in touch. So now for the first time in almost 40 years, you can play this multi-part game from 1984 that never was
